Halff Celebrates Engineers Week

This year’s Engineers Week (EWeek) theme, “Design Your Future,” made Halff reflect on the incredible technology advancements that have shaped the industry and look forward to how our engineers are shaping the world of tomorrow.

Halff engineers throughout all offices celebrated EWeek. The San Antonio office joined ASCE’s exciting lineup of EWeek celebrations and took part in the golf tournament.

The Woodlands office celebrated EWeek by hosting a building challenge. Teams raced to build the tallest freestanding structure possible using only spaghetti and mini marshmallows! The winning team constructed an impressive 27-inch tower by focusing on providing strong support.

HCI Updates

Austin volunteers delivered HCI’s donation to Farmshare Austin, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to grow a healthy local food system by increasing community food access and cultivating new farmers. The funds will be used to purchase farm equipment.

Houston volunteers packed 34 hygiene bags for Bel Inizio, a nonprofit that helps disadvantaged women develop self-confidence and life skills through fitness and nutrition. Participants train to complete a 5K, which helps prepare them for the ultimate race—the race for a better life. The hygiene bags will be given to the graduates as they complete their 5K.

Richardson employees volunteered at Feed Lake Highlands where they helped neighbors shop for groceries and presented HCI’s $1,000 donation.

Austin and Austin South volunteers spent their Saturday morning with Rebuilding Together to provide critical safety home improvements to their economically distressed neighbors. HCI donated $2,500 for supplies and volunteers spent the morning digging and setting fence posts.

Teaming Together

Halff offices went all out for Valentine’s Day, with each office adding their own creative spin! Many wore themed outfits for the holiday and participated in fun activities, such as cookie decorating, bracelet making and a paint night.

The Jacksonville office participated in the Florida Engineering Society’s (FES) 11th Annual Race for Relevance, a fundraising event supporting STEM engagement and scholarships for future engineers. All funds raised go to the FES chapter’s scholarship fund, benefiting University of North Florida engineering students and Northeast Florida high school graduates majoring in engineering.

Employees from Shreveport (left), McAllen (top right) and Tampa (bottom right) laced up their running shoes in February to participate in several races, including the annual Minden St. Jude Run, the McAllen Marathon Six-Man Relay and the St. Petersburg Distance Classic.
